Since 2022, AVA Plastic Surgery Hospital is proud to collaborate with American International Hospital (AIH)– a multi-specialty hospital owned by Raffles Medical Group from Singapore in delivering exceptional patient care, including advanced plastic reconstructive procedures and bariatric surgery including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

Located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, AIH is among the first hospitals in the region designed and operated according to American healthcare standards. With a 10-story facility housing 120 beds, American International Hospital (AIH) operates in alignment with Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, reflecting its commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered healthcar.

Surgical Criteria

Patients with BMI above 40 kg/m2, or above 35 kg/m2 with at least one obesity-related comorbidity, especially if difficult to control with lifestyle and pharmacological therapy, may be considered for bariatric surgery as a medical treatment.

Absolute contraindications

Individuals who cannot tolerate general anaesthesia and those with severe cardio-respiratory illness, liver disease with portal hypertension, suffer from an uncontrolled psychological disorder or substance abuse are contraindicated for bariatric surgery Pregnancy and active malignancy are also contraindications.
